This guide lists some legal aid providers that help refugees and asylum-seekers in refugee status determination or resettlement processes. This is not a list of every organization that helps refugees. These organizations are not affiliated with IRAP.
This guide also lists resources compiled by UNHCR. If you are facing a difficult situation, you should contact the UNHCR office in the country or region where you live in the country or region where you live.

UNHCR website
UNHCR’s Help website provides information on the rights of refugees in more than one hundred countries around the world.
Signpost websites
Signpost websites provide information for refugees, migrants, and others in countries such as Colombia, Ecuador, Iraq, Italy, Greece, Kenya, Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala, and Niger. They also have websites covering information for Afghan refugees and Ukrainian refugees in different countries.

St. Andrew’s Refugee Services (StARS) provides free legal help in the refugee status determination process, psychosocial assistance, educational programs, and activities.

Thailand
Asylum Access Thailand provides legal counsel and representation to refugees seeking asylum in refugee status determination proceedings conducted by UNHCR in Bangkok. It also provides protection counseling, including advice on relevant Thai law. In addition, AAT provides limited counseling to refugees on alternative pathways.

The International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) provides free legal help to some refugees and displaced people.
- IRAP helps some people find services and prepare refugee and visa applications.
- IRAP is not part of any government, IOM, or UNHCR.
- IRAP cannot grant refugee status or visas or speed up cases.
- IRAP cannot provide financial help, find or pay for housing, or find jobs.
- All of IRAP’s help is free. No one affiliated with IRAP has the right to ask you for money or any other service.
IRAP decides to help people based on their need and eligibility for immigration status. IRAP does not decide to help people based on any other social, political, or religious criteria.
