Iran
As of 27 August 2021, the Government of Iran has not determined whether or how people newly arriving from Afghanistan may seek asylum.
Registration of asylum seekers in Iran is conducted by the Bureau for Aliens and Foreign Immigrant Affairs (BAFIA). UNHCR has published information for asylum seekers in Iran (also in Farsi/Dari).
The United States government does not maintain an embassy in Iran and processing for immigration to the United States is not possible from Iran.
Pakistan
New arrivals in Pakistan who wish to seek asylum should contact UNHCR to register as asylum seekers.

Tajikistan
New arrivals in Tajikistan who wish to seek asylum need to register as asylum seekers within one month of entering the country.

There is a United States embassy in Tajikistan. However, this embassy does not currently process immigrant visa applications for those seeking to immigrate to the United States.
Turkey
The asylum procedure in Turkey is run by the government of Turkey. UNHCR has offices in Turkey and provides assistance to refugees located in Turkey.
